The weekend started with a surprise overnight visit from my aunt and uncle. I say surprise because we found out they were coming a day before and we started frantically cleaning right away. They were on their way to see my parents and we were a great stopping point. It was SO NICE having them at our house! They were our first out-of-town overnight guests, other than my parents! I had not seen them since the wedding. I so miss having family around. I grew up in Iowa and most of my family is there and my parents are in Ohio. I have a third cousin in Indiana and that is it! I enjoyed having company and listening to old hear family stories. It was great for them to get to know Doug better and vice versa. So, to have some family come and stay was a real treat... even if I was exhausted from all the cleaning!
The rest of the 'anniversary' weekend was pretty mellow. We went to mass and out to a nice breakfast at the restaurant that catered the wedding. We took a long nap, watched a favorite movie and a little football too. We watched a little of the wedding as well. That was way better than the football! For me anyways!
It was nice to just relax and be with each other. We used the "good dishes" for all our meals, even our anniversary dinner ... which was incredibly fancy! Not! We had English muffin pizza's! I said it was a mellow weekend!
We also enjoyed the fresh cupcakes! They were much much better than the ones that were defrosted in the freezer! Here is the proof. Yes, yes, I know, way too many pictures of us and cupcakes! I was going for a record! Hahahahahaa!
