Knee #1 done!

My dad flew through the knee replacement surgery with flying colors. It went a lot better than his last surgery, where there were numerous anesthesia complications. He ended up being semi-awake since they didn't want to out him fully under. After last time, too risky. So be could hear them drilling and popping his knee out. Ummmm.... Icky.

George was great medicine. My dad just adores him. He entertained all those in the waiting room. :)

The first trip away from him with just me and George went ok as well. I might have overpacked a bit and George's sleep was all funny at night, but we made it! We are home and have face-timed with my dad in the hospital. All was well!

Thanks for the prayers.

Watching movies of himself!

Sleeping in his stroller... Given to us by his blogger aunties!
Pre-op. Good thing we were at a hospital. Boy and grandpa have no fear.

His new thing... Eats his toes.
Bath time with grandma is soo much fun!
Pack much?!

Knee prayers please!

George and I are currently on our first solo road trip. We are at my parents house because tomorrow is my dad's knee surgery.

One thing I know: George is good medicine and a great distraction.

If you could spare a prayer for my dad I would appreciate it. The knee will be fine and maybe he won't need two canes. Yep, he currently uses two canes.

I'm not so worries about the knee... But everything else. After his back surgery a few years ago, he had a lot of complications post-op. His diabetes was all out of whack, he had trouble waking up and he was very very sick. That's what I'm worried about.

And my mom. She's sick with worry about all great stuff too.

So please pray!

Here's some pics! He just too cute to not include some from our trip.

Sunday Quick Takes with pics!

1. I still haven't finished all the posts I started.  I'm working on them.  I start to write after George goes to bed at night and I find myself just wanting to sleep.  My need for sleep usually wins.
We love sleep at this house.
2. We officially have a baby who is on the move.  He is EVERYWHERE!  He went from being able to just crawl a tiny bit to crawling all around the house within a matter of days.  It's AMAZING to watch him figure all of that out.  It's also exhausting chasing after him.  Baby proofing??  Yep, we need to do that.  Cords are our main issue.  And dog hair.  Ewww.
On the move!
3. We went to the first mass of a good friend today.  Father Kevin was one of the seminarians in our wedding.  We had three seminarians serve in the wedding and they are now all priests!!  We got one of his first blessings as a family!  Love that George will grow up with strong priests all around him.
All ready for mass!
4. Doug is out of school for summer.  WHOOOOO HOOOOO!  I love summer.  While I still work and Doug teaches summer school, there is just a different feeling around the house.  The stress of the school year is gone.  George and I made a quick up to Doug's school for the last day.  Doug was so proud to show people his son.  It was a great sight to see.
Pretty true.

5. My car died.  Yep.  Died.  If you remember... it was in the shop the day my water broke.  I had really gotten to know the car repair folks over the last few years.  It was time to make a change.  We would have liked to wait another six months - the car didn't have a payment after all.  But I no longer felt safe in it.  Every time I got in, I wondered if it would make it where we were going.  So we are now an official mini-van family and I love it!  I feel safe in our 'new to us' van and there is plenty of room for our baby and our 89lb dog.  Yep, the dog was a consideration when we bought the van.  Spoiled dog.  I pretty much had the biggest panic attack of my life as we drove out of the dealership.  It made me nervous making such a big purchase when money is so tight.  The upside?  We now save $.07 a month on our car insurance! Score!  Haha.
Daisy and George enjoying the van.

6. My dad is having knee #1 replaced next week.  George and I will be heading over to Ohio to be with my mom for the surgery.  It will be my first trip alone with George.  I think he might be the magic medicine that will help my dad's recovery.  Prayers for the surgery are appreciated.  He will have his second knee replaced in July.

7. George just crawled over to my flip flops and tried to eat them.  Oh boy... we are in trouble.  :)

8.  Just for fun... a few more pics.

Heart breaking for a friend

There is never a moment that goes by that I do not feel so blessed to have George (and Doug) in my life.  There are hard times, for sure.  I'm so sleep deprived.  I look frumpy and I smell like baby puke all the time.   But I am still lucky - to smell like puke.

That thought is especially present today.  I am so thankful that we not only able to conceive George, but that he is here, safe and sound.

One of my good friends from college and his wife had long anticipated the arrival of their son Henry.  There were happy belly pic and nursery pictures posted on facebook.  Then there were labor updates!  Henry was on his way.

It was a while and there hadn't been anything posted.  Soon after I received an email that they had lost their full term baby during delivery.  My heart sank and my head is still spinning.  I just cannot imagine the loss.  The grief.  The heartache.  Going home to an empty nursery.  It's unimaginable.

My heart is breaking for them.

I will hug my little family very tight tonight as I pray for my friend and his family.  Please do the same and keep them in your prayers.

Love my family.
