Today started out great -- I woke up right before my alarm, said my prayers and thought, "Today will be a good day!" Ahhh... I should have known better! It's the 4th Wednesday of the month! For the past several months, something not so great has happened on the 4th Wednesday of the month! So here is my day (so far!) in a nutshell...
1. Driving home from my overnight shift at the local homeless shelter for pregnant women and their children. It's 4:30 am and I run over some type of animal (not a cat) with my car. By accident!
2. Can't find anything that fits to wear to work. Common occurrence these days.
3. Off to work. Not so great driver almost hits me and forces me into the shoulder on the interstate... but make it to work safely... praise God!
4. At work... pregnancy announcement, pregnancy announcement, pregnancy announcement. An hour of solid pregnancy, baby, va.gina, birthing talk at lunch. Lunch bunch also talk about recent kid birthday parties. I'm confused... did I miss one? Then say that DH and I weren't invited... "because we don't have kids." Insert knife in heart now please!
5. DH and Ann cheer me up with some great emails! DH suggests we might need to drink a little tonight!
6. Doctor appointment for weight loss. I love getting weighed! Actually... I kind of do just to check where I am... it's just not a lot of fun!
7. Come home. Walk inside our house. Something is a little off. Lights are flashing, the ceiling fans are on. They weren't on when I left for work! Hmmm.... They won't turn off! The TV, Internet modem, all the phones, the DVR's and about everything else electronic won't turn on.
8. Start thinking our house got struck by lightening.
9. Start laughing. Start crying. Start praying. Smokey starts meowing.
10. DH arrives home. Whoo hoo! Lightening strike confirmed! Still can't get the ceiling fan and lights to turn off! How funny is that?? It just keeps going faster and faster! AHHHHHH!
11. Head out for some much needed adult beverages with my wonderful DH!
I know this isn't a tragedy. This to shall pass. But, Seriously 2010!!! I could smack you!!!!!

Ugh. I'm sorry you had such a rough day. That really stinks about the lightening strikes! I hope you can get it fixed quickly and cheaply! I said a prayer for you!

Crap. Me no likey that day. :(
What a day! You are a trooper. Enjoy that beverage.
That is so crazy about the lightning. I am sorry it was such a rough day. Hopefully you were able to enjoy your evening with DH!
Question. If it WOULD have been a cat would your whole day have been great? Lol.
Alcohol was definitely called for...
yep, I would have needed some 'rita's!
Yeesh, you need to read Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day...or maybe not, just add some pictures and you've got it covered :(.
Prayers that tomorrow is better.
I know we fall on opposite sides of the political fence, but I sure would offer you a good bottle of wine and some pleasant hospitality after your incredibly long day. I really admire you Jenny. hope tomorrow brings you the best.
I canNOT believe this day! Your house got struck by lightening? OMGosh! I already know today hasn't started out great . . . it can only go up from here, right? Keep me posted.
Good gracious. That's not even fair. :(
I would have a few amaretto sours with you tho :-D
Love you Jenny!!! Glad you could laugh a little about it!
Oh no, Jenny! What an awful day! You deserve to vent. I hope you were able to have a little fun with your DH. I see the next post isn't so great tho... as my dad always says, "What can you do now but laugh?" Sigh.
Ugh...sorry about the crazy day. In regards to #2 - right there with you..it is stressing me out - which then causes more problems. Yuck! I hope this weekend is better!
Oy. Cross that day out! You need a do over:)
I'd love an adult bev. Have several for me.
And that comment about not being invited b/c you don't have kids....whatever happend to erring on the side of generosity? Dummies! You should invite everyone and let people decide for themselves. People. Hope we get to see you guys next month. If Beth hasn't lost her mind with the flooring install, I hope you will come eat steak with us! I'm bringing some big ones!
Oh my gosh I am so afraid of lightening...I would have just run out of the house like a banshee even if the strike had been hours ago.
And the kid party? ugg. Just assume it was some sort of Tickle Me Elmo awfulness, and move on.. :)
