You never appreciate...

...running water until it is gone!

We are going on day 3 of no running water and it looks like we will have at least 3 - 4 more!  UGH!  Since the leak is coming from underneath the slab, we have to have a specialist out to detect exactly where it is.  Then they will know where to place the jackhammer and go to town.  Yep, a jackhammer in the kitchen.  Then, they will actually fix the leak.  This all starts Tuesday and they said we should have water by WEDNESDAY!  I can't wait!  After the leak is fixed, all the entire kitchen, dining room and entrance floor will come up.  The big hole will then be treated and dried out.  Next comes our brand new floor!  This will be a long process, but we will be getting some great floors and running water in return!

Since we have no water, we took a little 'staycation' at a local hotel this weekend.  We were able to shower and flush without any problems!  Whoo hooo!!  We went out to a little Mexican joint and had some margarita's and just enjoyed being with each other!  It was nice to laugh about our troubles and that we did!  We tried to make the most of our 'staycation' and I think we definitely got that accomplished!

We needed to laugh.  Tearing up our kitchen was not in the plans for this month... or the next several years.  We both are trying to keep this in perspective.  We know that this is not a life tragedy, but when we saw the water coming up through the floor, we felt so defeated and sick to our stomachs.  Ugh.  I hate that feeling.

We are back at home today and doing what we can.  We had a TON of laundry to do, so we found the nearest laundromat and went to town.  If we would have done the laundry at home, it would have taken all day.  But at the laundromat, SIX loads were done in ONE hour!! ONE HOUR!!  Can you even believe it??  Man, we should go there more often!

The next few days/weeks should be interesting.  I have a big meeting at work on Tuesday.  If you could spare a little prayer that I stay calm and that it all goes great, it would be greatly appreciated.

And... because I can hardly do a post with out pictures...

Doug enjoying a little beverage on our staycation.
Amazed at the laundromat!  Yep, he's a good sport.

What an attitude, J! I hope it gets fixed soon. Do you know what kind of new floors you're going to get? Probably not. I'm sure your just focused on running water now :)

Thanks for the comment on my blog :). Sounds like your plumbing emergency is waaaay worse than ours, and what a mess! Water everywhere like you've described would just make me plop down and bawl! Of course, we have a basement, so that would have to be some kind of flood to see water coming up through our floors, haha.
Hope you get it all fixed up soon and get your water back on!

Such troopers! Snicks and I used to go to the laundromat and enjoyed the speediness of everything (but not the sketchiness). Can't wait to see the good (pretty new floors) that comes out of this!

Sorry about the plumbing drama; that and car issues seem to be going around. I'm glad you can keep a good attitude about it.
