Friday Quick Takes - DH Style!

I felt inspired to guest write a Friday quick takes about my wife. I hope you enjoy it!

All Things Jenny – From a DH perspective

1

I love my wife because she is my best friend. My heart lifts when I see her and hugging her makes me feel better no matter what. She makes me laugh and she is always there for me.

2

Her rivalry with my cat cracks me up. She seems to often compete with the cat for my attention. She makes “rules” about how close he can be to me, where he can sit, and what he can do. He doesn’t pay much attention because he is a CAT. The funniest is when we are in bed and she puts her arm on top of me so that the cat can’t lay there. :)

3

Jenny has gotten me hooked on blogs. I think part of it is because the stories are compelling and the writing is wonderful. I especially enjoy reading about the “Bubble” and Ann’s nest building. I have even commented on occasion.

4

Jenny has great friends from the blogs. While I still find it a little strange to share so much information with people you have never met in real life, the support they have provided and the value of their friendship is quite real – and priceless. Thank you for looking out for Jenny.

5

It is part as of my job as Jenny's DH to say no. I love Jenny and she gets her way quite a bit, but there are times that I have to say no to provide some balance. Whether it is turning down names for our imaginary future children (she comes up with some doozies) or refusing to bring her water when she doesn’t ask me for it, but instead talks about how she is dying of thirst – there have to be a few limits and I provide them, whether I like it or not. For example, after she reads this... she will ask, "What do you think about a boy named Doozie?" I must say no.

6

I am grateful for Jenny’s attempts to be in nature. She and nature don’t really get along, but she came to one of my programs on wildflowers last year and we went hiking in Brown County. I appreciate her efforts, even if they don’t always end well.

7

I value her faith. I am not Catholic by upbringing, but I respect Jenny’s beliefs and support her in that pursuit. I attend mass with her every week and I value her beliefs, even it I don’t always fully understand them. They are part of who she is and part of why I love her.

Thank you for reading my thoughts. If it goes well, maybe Jenny will let me guest write again. ;)

Doug

This was fun to read. :) Your Jenny has helped me with wedding planning, and I am so thankful for the connections that occur online! I am amazed my fiance doesn't nix more of our future children's names, haha. The stuff you guys put up with!

Doug, you ‘da man. You get major props! I love hearing your perspective.

1 – So sweet.
(R? Are you reading this? Do you see what nice things Doug says about his wife? Take note.)

2 – I’m siding with Jenny. Kitty needs to be put on love restriction. Our cat loved R and hated me with a passion.

3- ;)

4 – No doubt. After one of my phone conversations with Jenny, I told my husband I would never ever doubt that friendships could be born from a little blog (I was skeptical when I started blogging). I’ve got wonderful proof!

5 – I have heard some potential names and can concur with you on a few, but what’s wrong with “Doozie”?

6- Jenny’s a better woman than me ;-)

7- What a wonderful thing to see in someone and value about her. You've got to do more guest posts. Loved it!

**And yet again, Ann leaves a LONG comment. Shocker.**

What about Doozie for a middle name, like Doug Doozie Last Name? No? Ok. But I do take Jenny's side on the cat issue too. Such a sweet post!

LOVE THIS! I really wish Ryan would blog with me! :) Maybe I can get him to now!!! ha!
I disagree about the cat, actually, and maybe it's because I had one and Ryan had one before we got married, and I love snuggling with both! (And, of course, with Ryan)...We're like a little family, snuggled up on the couch watching a movie. But, Jenny's point does start to make me think "would I get more attention if the cat got less?" hmmmm....haha!!!
Doug Doozie. Sounds good. ;) Jenny I want to see some of these names you've come up with!

Hope we can move to Indiana sometime - or at LEAST come visit! - and see you guys!
xoxo

This is wonderful, Doug! Jenny, what a wonderful husband you have! :) It makes me think we need to say the unspoken more often. The things with think but rarely say deserve the spotlight sometimes.

Soo sweet...even if he does tell you no sometimes. :)

Hopefully he will visit again soon!

I just love the concept of a DH Quick Takes! Yippee!! And, I am so thrilled that you enjoy the Bubble! You are always welcome there. :)

I am so glad I am not the only woman who says things like, "Wow, a glass of water would feel so refreshing right now" and expects my DH to bring me a drink! :)

You are awesome, Doug! And you got yourself a great little lady, there!

I'm not going to lie, I actually thought that Jenny wrote this so I scrolled down to the bottom to see if she was joking. :) hahahaha

So cute! Go Doug! You, IMHO, have already won a ton of purgatory points! ;)

Can we say...ADORABLE??! So fun to hear from the menfolk. HA! We never say anything bad about you guys...honest. I have a feeling that all of us gals are a bit spoiled by the hubs since a suggestion for a glass of H2O doesn't seem to far out there for me either! God Bless you!

Doug - I couldn't agree more with some of your points - especially # 4. While I share this journey with Ann, there is no way that I could relate to it like her peeps. I am so grateful for all the support they provide.

Oh, and thanks for now setting a bar for the rest of us. Now I'm going to be expected to do a guest post . . . .
