Getting out of bed. Yep, I hate it. I am a night person and I dread getting out of bed in the morning. It takes me forever to get to sleep and I love love love to sleep in. I'm up by 5am every morning and one of my first thoughts (after a few prayers)... is ugh... 'I can't wait to go to bed tonight!' Yep, I think that at 5am! Pathetic, huh?

Leaving mass early. I can't stand it when people receive the Eucharist and then run out of the church. Ugh. Seriously?? You can't stay a whole 5 - 10 extra minutes after communion to receive the final blessing? I think this is so disrespectful. I once heard Fr. Larry Rich.ards say that leaving mass early is like spitting on the cross. I wish everyone could have heard Fr. Larry talk about it that way. They would NEVER leave mass early again. I realize that there are situations that call for leaving mass early... emergencies and such. I totally understand that. I just don't get leaving early because you don't feel like staying or need to get someplace better.

Since we are talking about 'pet' peeves... I better mention: Cat hair. Cat smell. Cat food. Uck. Uck. Uck. I don't mind Doug's cat too much, just all that goes with him! He can be pretty cute sometimes and all he does is sleep. At least we both like to do that. I could just do without the hair, smell and food and darn litter box too.
Leila being gone so long could really be a pet peeve... but I respect her spending time with family and all that stuff... ha!! :)

Earlier this spring the priest actually paused after communion so that we could all say a Hail Mary for those who had skipped out after communion. I'll bet the 1/2 of the crowd that had stayed around will never leave early after that!
I heard once that the first person to leave Mass early was Judas.....ouch.
#2: We had a Pastor that always said “Judas was the first person to leave Mass early. Do you really want to follow his example?” Agreed on 1 & 3.
I’ll add 2 that bothered me this weekend (if you don’t mind my jumping in):
1. People who sing along out loud to the music in the stores (and I’m not talking about gentle humming, but belting out the tunes regardless of who is near by). This isn’t American Idol and there’s a reason Billy Joel made it and you didn’t.
2. Hard plastic packaging that takes a combination of hacksaw and blow torch to open up so you can get to the goodies inside (new curling iron comes to mind). It’s like paying an absorbent amount of money wasn’t enough, you know have an extra step to go to prove exactly how much you want this item.
Opps. I was posting my Judas comment same time as Kaitlin. And I meant "now" not "know."
your pet peeves are mine!!! absolutely positively through and through!
and yes, Leila... come back!!!!!!!
I hate word verification and music on blogs. :) I have even thought about boycotting blogs that have wv.....hahahaha
Good pet peeves Ann and Sew! I've come up with a bunch more! Been that type of day!
I wouldn't ever leave mass early after hearing that quote! Ouch!
I can't stand it when people leave early for mass! There's people that do it EVERY WEEK at our mass and it drives me bonkers. Once a month I work the religious articles store at the back of the church and I have to open it up right after communion, but I can still pay attention since I can just go back into the vestibule. It drives me nuts when people come into the store while the mass is still going on! It's one thing for me to open up and put the sign out, but it's another when people shop!
Great pet peeves everyone. The leaving Mass thing is very annoying and I like the quote and that peoples' pastor have made comments and pray a Hail Mary for the early leavers.
P.S. I got the package you sent today.
Oh, I am so happy you used the Pet Peeves icon! I won't even tell you how long it took for me to figure out how to make it, ha ha!
I LOVE your peeves (though my cat doesn't have hair; he does pee on everything, though). And Ann's and Sew's. Ann's number 2 especially. What is with that packaging????
Soooo glad to be back!!! YAY!!
